Dealt in Chicago

Making the rounds. Stayed in an AirBNB-type situation that was really great. Newly restored two-floor condo in a great neighborhood. Perfect weather as well, tricking me into wanting to live there. The cold was months away. Richard was performing a ‘one man show’ version of his act at a neat little theater and we also spent a day sightseeing with him and his wife, Kim. On a downer note, my Mom had a heart incident in Chicago the week before on a three day trip and was still stuck in a hospital while we were there.

South By So What

Another bloated, traffic-choking, corporate branding orgy has come and gone. While SXSW is a week where anyone with a boom pole and a pulse can be busy, I have vowed this one was my last. It is definitely one of the horsemen of this once fair cities apocalypse.

Dealt

Often I can’t talk much or post things about stuff in progress, but this doc is very public. It’s about the life of Richard Turner, a multi-talented ‘card mechanic’ who happens to be unable to see. We began shooting in November with a trip to Richard’s sisters place in Idaho. We recently shot several of his shows in Hollywood at the Magic Castle.

People Food!

My good friend Jenny Goddard-Garcia wrote and directed this humorous short. We shot in Lockhart and Austin. As I love camping I chose to stay in Lockhart State Park one night versus a three hour round trip. My 8yr old had his first paid extra role on this.
Shot on the Sony F55.

Hate From a Distance

Finally, I got to work in New Mexico. This is a short film directed by Dan Ireland set in in the civil rights area. Long drive to Santa Fe and most shooting occurred in Las Vegas, NM and Portales, NM. Fun cast and crew. A LOT had to happen in a very short amount of time.
Shot on the Alexa.
